The Production Directorate with seat at Göd of the OVIT ZRt. operates one of the most up-to-date steel processing plants of Hungary, the European rank of which is well founded already today and which is able to produce yearly some 12.000 tons of metalwork of excellent quality, ready for installation, supplied with duplex surface protection. All the steelwork necessary for the operation and projects of the company is produced by the manufacturing plant of the Steel Work Business Management of the Production Directorate at Göd.
The manufacturing of the steel structures started 40 years ago at the site of Göd, which has developed and is developing with undiminished strength since then. In our days its main activity is constituted by the manufacturing and surface protection of the special and small and large series screwed and welded steel structures. Nearly half of the steel structures produced here leaves the plant with duplex or conventional surface protection.
The area of the site is 12,8 hectares. The total area of the manufacturing halls and buildings is 15.500 m². The halls are equipped with cranes of 1,5–10 tons.
The average number of the staff members – engineers, technicians, welders, locksmiths, painters, lathe operators and fitters possessing the required training and qualification – is 210.
The plant produces general medium-heavy steelworks such as:

The preparation, cutting-off and processing are carried out at present in the trade on the most up-to-date CNC controlled angle-steel processing, cutting-off, boring, punching and plasma cutting machines, which we have bought from the most renowned European suppliers. The preparation of the corroding materials takes place on grain spreading machines.
The CNC controlled angle-steel processing machines can produce on each side – without tool change – 3 holes of different sizes, they have CNC controlled letter and number stamp and cutting-off device.
The rolled section steel processing machines can process every type of section steel and pipes up to the length of 18 m and cross section of 800x450 mm.
The combined plasma cutting, flame cutting, punching and boring machines are suitable for punching productively gusset plates and other steel plate profiles, for stamping identification numbers and shape cutting up to the plate thickness of 4–100 mm and the board size of 2x6 m.
The specialists of the Steel Work Business Management undertake to deliver and install also at the site the completed structures.
The painting plant of closed technology, of automatic material handling, of drying chamber in closed cabin is suitable for painting and duplex coating both of the so-called black goods and zinc-plated surfaces.
As from September of 2006 the Business Management comprises the machining plant of Paks as well, the main scope of activities of which is constituted by the machining and heat treatment works necessary for the operation and maintenance works of the Paks Nuclear Power Plant., but in addition to this, of course it performs the works belonging to the scope of activities of the OVIT as well. The plant accomplishes yearly the manufacturing of some 25 000 new parts and beyond this, its renewal, repair, regulation and installation activity linked up with the maintenance is also significant.
