By the invitation for tender, the complex work of the Győr – Szombathely project started in the spring of 2004. The main goal of the project was to provide long term energy supply in the west Transdanubian area and to raise the safety of it.

The execution was splitted up to 5 separate projects, even though all of them were closely related to each other:
the realization of the Győr- Szombathely 400kV powerline,
the construction of the Szombathely 400/120 kV substation,
establishing a 120 kV power line between the Szombathely 400/120 kV substation and the 120 kV substation of Észak-dunántúli Áramszolgáltató Zrt,
the extension of the 120 kV substation of the Észak-dunántúli Áramszolgáltató Zrt
and extension of 400/120 kV substation Győr for conection of the new 400 kV power line.

Ovit was succesfull in the tendering both for the power line construction and the manufacturing of steel towers, so the contract was signed in November 2004 and the process could be started. The job was set back by various cicumstances, for example: railway crossing, archaelogical excavation or some naturally given condition, wet ground in the 85% of the line route. In this way, however, the work proved to be more challenging.

Coordination and realization of the five seperate projects necessitated a well organized and harmonized work from each participant. OVIT completly fulfilled these requirements.
